If your watch has a compass, and OS 6 or above, we show a navigational arrow whilst you follow a route. You also need to start the route on the watch, so download it to the watch - either using the Add to watch from the phone, or direct download on the watch - then start from the watch. Navigation is then the screen after the map. If you press and hold on the map, choose Rotate, the map then rotates with the compass to be correctly orientated.
For best results when used with Apple Workouts start and stop track record on the iPhone, rather than on the watch.
Trails allows you to easily import tracks and waypoints from other apps, websites and friends, using the standardized GPX file format.
Additionally, you can browse, filter, and import tracks published on GPSies.com directly in Trails.
GPX is a standard file format to exchange routes, tracks and waypoints. Trails supports this format for importing and exporting data.

You can import GPX files from anywhere in iOS, e.g. from email attachments, the Files app, or Safari. This usually happens via the 'Open in…' menu. For example, tap a GPX file in an email attachment, select Open in… and then tap Trails. Trails will be launched and will import the GPX file automatically.

Alternatively you can start the import from within Trails. From the main screen, tap Import in the upper right corner. This screen allows you to directly import tracks from gpsies.com (optionally, filtered by activity type), web URLs (please ensure that the URL points to a GPX file and is accessible without login) or the Files app.
